When you think about your business, what are you most proud of?

Qava is a place to buy and taste exclusively Spanish artisan cheese.
We work with more than 200 references throughout the year from small artisan cheesemakers, most of them small country cheesemakers who have their own livestock and process their own milk.
We refine the cheeses in our cellars and we transmit to the general public who makes that cheese, where, how and we make an effort so that all our customers appreciate and know the good cheese that is made in Spain.

What is the history of your commerce?

We are three partners in love with cheese, united around the idea of raising awareness of the Spanish cheese scene. José Luis Martín, one of the partners of Qava, has been in the sector for more than 30 years and is a benchmark in the Spanish cheese world.
We have a close relationship with the producers and we select the batches at source, which we then refine in our cellars.

What is your professional experience?

Of the three partners, José Luis is the one who has always had the closest relationship with the world of cheese. He had his own cheese dairy and livestock farm in Extremadura and has subsequently been involved in advising countless cheese dairies, shops and public bodies on the world of cheese.

How has covid 19 affected your business?

After being closed for two months in March and April 2020, we had to focus much more on online sales and online public and corporate tastings.
These have been very successful and have allowed us to make ourselves known at a national level.

What services and products does your business provide?

In our space in Doctor Castelo Street, 34, the public can find the best selection of Spanish artisan cheeses, which can be bought to take away or tasted in situ accompanied by other products such as Mallorcan sausages, artisan preserves and the best wines and beers.
We serve cheeses to restaurants and also do online tastings for the general public and companies.
