When you think about your business, what are you most proud of?

Customer service, without a doubt. We have managed to provide specialised and professional attention, without losing sight of the proximity, friendliness and care for our customers, who are the ones who make us get up every morning. These are the values that are the hallmark of our business and what our customers value and appreciate the most.

What is the history of your commerce?

Leaving behind the cold and poverty of his village in Burgos, Narciso González arrived in Madrid with a cardboard suitcase full of enthusiasm to make a future for himself. To do so, he started working hard in different shops and got married, had four children and, in 1921, when he had some savings, he rented a small shop in Imperial Street which he dedicated to the sale of cordage, sacks, burlap, articles for horses... The shop remained open during the Civil War, during which he cooked on top of his walnut counter, a memory of which remains to this day.

What is your professional experience?

After working as a waiter, shop assistant and manager together with Ángeles González Arasti from a very young age, Silverio took over the shop in 2010 and continued Narciso's legacy, giving it greater impetus, without ever losing sight of the essence of the business. Thus, for example, he initiated the presence of the shop on social networks, designing a website to be able to order online, or creating an Instagram account that has made Casa Silverio known and recognised all over the world, as, currently, we receive orders, not only from Madrid or Spain, but from all over Europe and Latin America.

How has covid 19 affected your business?

While the pandemic initially put the brakes on direct sales, since the confinement measures prevented customers from coming physically to the shop, the availability of a well-structured, user-friendly and simple website where they could order online provided a considerable relief from the restrictions imposed by the confinement.

What services and products does your business provide?

Our shop offers practically all articles related to upholstery. From upholstery tools, such as nail removers, goat's feet, springs or upholsterer's needles, to made-to-measure foam rubber, ropes, canvases, awnings, tarpaulins and high quality linen, making our shop the perfect place for upholsterers or upholstery enthusiasts, decorators or individuals who wish to give their home a new look.
