Interview to the commerce

When you think about your business, what are you most proud of?

We are proud to continue the tradition of neighbourhood commerce, to know all our customers personally by name and to know what they like.
We look for quality in every corner of our rich land where gastronomy is still a jewel, we deal with our suppliers personally and we support small projects and all those who, like us, like things well done.

Interview to the commerce

What is the history of your commerce?

Andrés de las Heras Ibáñez arrived from Villar de Infantado (Cuenca), aged 14, alone and with all his possessions packed in a small wooden suitcase, he had nothing more than a great desire to work.
After working in a grocers shop on the Paseo de Yeserías, he began working as a clerk in what was then Casa Pérez.
After the death of his boss, he took over the reins of the shop and changed its name to the current one, mantequería Andrés, which is now run by his sons, Andrés and Jose.
This butter shop has been open since 1870, we are part of a small and select group of centenarians, who proudly display a centenary plaque at the door of our establishment, designed by Antonio Mingote, and which was given to us as thanks for our history by the Madrid City Council.

What is your professional experience?

Andrés and Jose have spent their whole lives behind the counter of the shop, you could say they got their teeth here.
Their experience is acquired through hard work and the vicissitudes of life.
Their greatest dream is to be able to continue running their shop for many years to come.

How has covid 19 affected your business?

We have had to evolve and learn as we went along, taking extreme hygiene precautions and adapting partitions, as well as maintaining a capacity that is appropriate to the size of the shop.
It has not been easy, but thanks to an exceptional clientele and the decision to do our bit, we are managing to keep going.

What services and products does your business provide?

We work with the best of Spanish gastronomy, with artisan products of the highest quality, but we have not neglected our adaptation to the new times, for this we have, for example, a vacuum packing machine or a machine for slicing bread, as well as modern computer systems that allow us to specify the purchase receipt perfectly.
We are also working on an online catalogue and, on request, we can deliver to your door by courier.
