Interview to the commerce

When you think about your business, what are you most proud of?

We are a personal and unique business with products made by us, artisan and elaborated with ingredients of magnificent quality.
Our greatest pride is our team made up of my husband, a shop assistant, three confectioners and myself. All of us are Un Bizcocho Para Teo.
No two cakes are the same. They are all handmade one by one. Dont be surprised if your favourite cake doesnt taste exactly the same as the last time. No two oranges are the same, no two bananas at the same stage of ripeness. We do not aspire to that fictitious perfection that ingredients based on acronyms and lots of numbers in a row provide. Our cakes are natural and homemade, with the imperfections inherent in the nature of things.

What is the history of your commerce?

We started making cakes at home to give to our friends. Then we went to the world of flea markets and, in the first one we did, we sold everything on the first day. We spent that night baking dozens of cakes to sell the next day. We sold everything again, and so began our adventure in the weekend markets, which we combined with our profession.
The next step was to rent a bakery in Alcobendas. We launched an online shop and 2 years later we opened our first shop in Montesa Street. And finally, a year ago, we opened our shop and bakery in calle Goya, 82 where we are happy making delicious things and making everything as beautiful as possible!

What is your professional experience?

I am a political scientist and my husband is a personal trainer. We got into the world of baking because of our absolute devotion and weakness for sweets and because we both have an entrepreneurial spirit that has brought us to where we are today.

How has covid 19 affected your business?

The COVID has had a huge impact on us because, as a food business, we have not been entitled to aid, so we have worked three times as hard to be able to keep our structure intact. Thanks to the great effort of our entire team, we have been able to keep all of us in our jobs and move the business forward. Online sales have grown impressively and sales in the physical shop have improved as we have progressed from one phase to the next. All we need to do now is to resume catering, which was a very important part of our business and which, for the moment, has come to a complete standstill.
