When you think about your business, what are you most proud of?

The team and the customers who come to see us (dogs included!). In the 6 years that Mascoboutique has been open, my mother and I have managed to create a team that is like a family: we take great care of each other and support each other as much as we can, personally and professionally. Whats more, we have a great time together. I think this is transmitted to our customers and their dogs who come to Mascoboutique to look for products for their furry friend, but also to have a fun and enjoyable time. We love to see how the dogs remember us and take their owners to the door of the shop to greet us and give them a treat - they are much smarter than we think!

What is the history of your commerce?

Mascoboutique was born almost by chance thanks to the love of my mother, Matilde, for dogs and her desire to create a shop with the best accessories for them. A lawyer by profession and an animal lover, she started more than 20 years ago managing her husbands veterinary clinic. Her people skills and her taste for choosing the best brands on the market meant that she outgrew the veterinary clinic and in 2014 she decided to open Mascoboutique. From the beginning, my mother wanted Mascoboutique to be a different kind of dog accessory shop: with a well-cared aesthetic, where the best national and international dog accessory brands were present and where customers would feel at home from the moment they crossed the threshold. Faced with such an exciting project that my mother had undertaken, I didnt hesitate and joined the team. Hand in hand, we have created a project that we are very proud of. The brands we work with are our great allies and the Mascoboutique team - Mariano, Raquel, Sonia, Sara, Nicole, Cova and Raquel - a small family.

What is your professional experience?

Like my mother, I have a degree in Law and I am a lawyer by profession, although I only practised for a short time as being a lawyer was not for me. At the age of 27, I decided to pursue my passion, fashion, and I left my job and took the MBA in fashion business management at the University of Navarra (ISEM). Thanks to this masters degree, I worked for two years in one of the most internationally renowned Spanish fashion companies. It was an incredible time in which I learnt a lot and immersed myself in the world of luxury and retail. Suddenly, my mother decided to open Mascoboutique and I saw the perfect opportunity to have my own project and dedicate myself to my other great passion: animals. Since then, I have not stopped working a single day, but I do not regret it in the slightest.

How has covid 19 affected your business?

It was a very hard few months, physically and emotionally. With the confinement we had to close our two shops and we were forced to declare an ERTE for the entire workforce. They were two months of fear, uncertainty and anguish. I was left alone to manage online orders and home deliveries. A real beating... As soon as we could, in May, we reopened our two shops and lifted the ERTE for the whole team. Since then, while respecting all the safety measures, we have been welcoming back all our usual customers and many new ones. This pandemic has caused a canine baby boom and there are lots of new puppies. You cant imagine what a joy it is to go to work.

What services and products does your business provide?

At Mascoboutique we have all kinds of products for dogs: collars, leashes, beds, feeders, clothes, brushes, toys... We select the brands we work with carefully, always looking for functional and quality products and also with an elegant and fashionable aesthetic. We also have a dog grooming service. We offer the basic service of washing and brushing, but also the wash with touch-up and the wash with complete cut with the technique that best suits the needs of the dog. Our groomers, Sara and Nicole, love dogs and make them look beautiful. We love to see how the dogs come into the salon delighted to be reunited with their great friends.
