Interview to the commerce

When you think about your business, what are you most proud of?

We are a shop specialising in kitchenware, confectionery and professional catering in general, but we want the end customer to find the same products that can be used by a Michelin star chef, the best confectioner or the most experienced barman. With reasonable prices and above all with a personal experience given the professional background acquired through work and family life. Our hallmark is not only the product, but also the fact that we cater equally to the professional in the sector, as well as to the novice who wants to explore this world. Our catalogues are for professional use, which guarantees our products 100%.

What is the history of your commerce?

In 2012, we had to reinvent ourselves.... we were immersed in a fierce economic crisis... and I thought that although it wasnt the best time, it was the right time to take a risk and bet on entrepreneurship. In September I found a small shop of barely 30 metres that served as a launching pad in El Barrio de las Letras, in Moratín street. A small shop, with a lot of energy and of course, launched with a lot of enthusiasm, and why hide... a bit of fear. In 2014, my shop became too small and we moved to number 26 of the same street and now.... and hopefully for a long time. It is a neighbourhood where I feel at home.

What is your professional experience?

My professional experience..... I am an office mouse... accounting and administration are key words in my life, to which I have dedicated 100% of my time for almost 15 years. I worked in the family business for about 5 years (a small restaurant where my mother was the Chef) and where I started to value the personal treatment and the "feedback" with the client and from there to the jump to the commercial life, where you enjoy, you learn and above all you share life. And until now... where I am a "woman orchestra", I am self-employed. I manage 100% of my company. Purchasing, sales, commercial, administrative, patrimony, logistics... and of course a thousand loves.

How has covid 19 affected your business?

The Covid...is an experience of resilience day by day. I liken the March standstill to what anyone has when they go up an escalator...and they stop suddenly. The mental inertia is "nothing happens", but the truth is that it does. Two months with a closed business. Two months trying to live a normal life... knowing that nothing is normal in that life. I opened taking all security measures on May 12 and so far. I am grateful every day that people I dont know come into my shop to congratulate me for resisting, for continuing with the work and encouraging me to continue.... This means that every day my alarm clock goes off and I have the strength to go upstairs with enthusiasm.

What services and products does your business provide?

We dont have a star product, I mean, they all are. Pans, pans, moulds, silpat, cups, bottles, grinders, skimmers, lids, strainers, crockery, cutlery, articles for baristas, cocktail makers. Elements for catering..., Enamelware, crockery, scales... I dont know, this is almost infinite. We also carry out installation projects. We advise on the packaging for take away (now so fashionable sadly), and everything you can think of for a restaurant or a cafe...
