When you think about your business, what are you most proud of?

We are proud to maintain a profession in danger of extinction, with products of the highest quality and at very competitive prices, but always taking care of their origin and placing value on Made in Spain or Made in Europe. We do not sell out to big brands that devalue the product and monopolise it. We are proud of our variety and above all we are proud to cover several generations of the same family from the sun and the cold, as those children who used to come with their grandparents are now our customers.

What is the history of your commerce?

The hat shop has been open since 1832 and is the oldest in Spain. It is a shop specialising only in hats and with a handcrafted workshop that produces private and professional orders for all over the world. Throughout its history, the workshop has specialised in different products according to demand. In the beginning it was the production of chisteras and mens hats, then hats for the clergy, lawyers and regional festivals. Forty years ago we specialised in cinema and theatre, as can be seen from the long list of productions behind us. Also the expansion of the business made it easier to include womens designs, hats, berets, pamelas of all possible designs.

How has covid 19 affected your business?

With the total destruction not only of foreign tourism, but also of national tourism and even the impossibility for people from the peripheral areas to enter Madrid, our sales have been reduced to minimums never seen before and which make it very difficult to simply cover expenses.
Even so, we wanted to remain optimistic and we continue to make novelties for the Christmas season.
