Interview to the commerce

When you think about your business, what are you most proud of?

We are a collective willing to fight the roses and change the world.

We are a bookstore, an independent publishing house and a center of cultural conspiracies.

We are a bridge between artists and activists and a port that connects peripheries.

We are a haven for poets, creative people, people who are looking for another possible world and other people with a bad life. A lair for all those who believe in goodness and beauty, for all those who aspire to transform by playing, for creators and conspirators.

We are a multiverse space and a laboratory of bad ideas.

We are a little house with the lights on.

What is the history of your commerce?

La Imprenta opens its doors on March 21, 2021, Poetry Day, Day against racist violence and the beginning of spring. Since then, it has hosted more than 250 events including presentations, recitals, concerts and workshops.

The publishing house associated with the project has already published 15 titles including poetry, essays, narrative and instruction manuals to change the world.

We are not a store, we are a cultural gap in the heart of the beast.

What is your professional experience?

My name is Miguel Ángel Vázquez and I am an editor, bookseller and cultural manager at La Imprenta.

Previously I have been a cultural journalist in various media, I have led the communication of spaces of good and I have complicated my life in the long year of change.

I am interested in everything social and I think that from beauty, joy and culture can drive change to achieve another possible world.

How has covid 19 affected your business?

The COVID 19 pandemic affected us, giving us the impetus to open our doors. In times where culture is virtualized and what makes us human is mediated by screens, we had to bet on presence (with all the precautions) and the meeting. Only in this way can creativity flow again, capable of changing the world.

Interview to the commerce

What services and products does your business provide?

At La Imprenta we sell poetry, essays and children's books.

We also publish books in various collections and offer our space in the heart of Malasaña for all kinds of artistic, cultural and social events.
