In the Plaza de la Paja square is the staircase leading to the Bishops Chapel, one of the most important Renaissance monuments in Madrid. Inside, the tomb of Gutierre de Vargas y Carvajal, bishop of Plasencia, stands out. It is the work of Francisco de Giralte. The altarpiece of the main altar is also impressive. Visiting hours are quite restricted, generally before or after a worship ceremony. Admission is free.
