Interview to the commerce

When you think about your business, what are you most proud of?

Our workshop is a kind of club, a meeting place where beautiful things are made, whether in oil, porcelain, wood or fabric, even river stones.
You will always find something to give to someone and you will always be welcome.
The Friday lunchtime botellones have become famous among our friends, and there are many of them. We are waiting for you.
We have worked for the National Ballet, for Opera, Theatre and Cinema costume designers, also for couturiers. In the workshop you will also find our hand-painted and hand-embroidered designs.

What is the history of your commerce?

"El Taller de Chus...Where the functional succumbs to the manual. Nothing that is consummated here is limited to fulfilling its duty. Here a table is used to eat and to look at. A mirror to see yourself and to see it. A lamp to be someone, lit or extinguished...". Ramón Faraldo, 1974.
Since then Chus has run the workshop, first in Oviedo and later in Madrid, combining her painting exhibitions with classes and commissions for Arte España, decorators, etc.
After finishing my studies I joined him, Macarena Grande (his daughter) who took charge of the Porcelain painting.

What is your professional experience?

Chus is a painter and has been doing solo and group exhibitions for many years, more than fifty. She founded her first studio in Oviedo in the mid-sixties. Then she moved to Madrid where she had several workshops until she arrived at this definitive one in Génova 14, where we have been working for more than 30 years.
I, Macarena, have a degree in Art History and have lived in this environment since I was a child. More than twenty years ago - Chus designed vitrifiable decals for large porcelain factories - we bought a porcelain kiln and that was my undoing. I am very enthusiastic about it.
