Interview to the commerce

When you think about your business, what are you most proud of?

From the gaming community.
We have a business specialising in board games and card games, with a gaming area for more than 50 people.
We love to see the room full of people having a good time, either participating in tournaments or enjoying a pachangas with friends, with soft drinks and chips.

Being a geek shop, it is fun just to walk around the shop and see all the dolls from different series, movies and sports. It is a very colourful shop, spacious, with lots of light and high ceilings. In short, it is a very pleasant place to browse or to spend the afternoon.

What is the history of your commerce?

Padis was born from the passion for card games of two friends who, in 2004, decided to found a shop dedicated to Legend of the 5 Rings.
It soon became a reference centre for the game, not only in their city but also at a national level, becoming recognised with its own charter, the Padis Dojo.

Although it may surprise us now, the possibilities and technological resources meant that in 2004 it was still necessary to do a lot of work to connect communities of players from different cities, let alone countries! So Padis became a great place for players to meet and exchange cards.

Over the years the growth of the shop made us evolve. Leyenda was joined by other LCGs, board games, our famous Rubiks cube collection and many other things, giving way to a more complete "geek" shop with a wider range of products.

In 2017 we moved to our current, larger premises, which has made us one of the first choices when it comes to spending the afternoon playing games or signing up for tournaments and events.

What is your professional experience?

I used to be a computer scientist. I spent four years as a developer and analyst at OleCenter, but my passion for games (especially Legend of the 5 Rings) led me to embark on this adventure, and its been 17 years now!

How has covid 19 affected your business?

When it arrived we had to close for a couple of months, during which we dedicated ourselves exclusively to online sales. In June 2020 we opened our doors again, always following the restrictions of the moment (limited capacity, confinements, etc...). This has reduced the amount of people we can have in the shop, so we have redoubled our efforts in online sales. This, together with the help from the state and the property, has allowed us to endure all this time.
