Interview to the commerce

When you think about your business, what are you most proud of?

We are very proud to have opted for origami, the art of Japanese origin that consists of creating paper figures, without cutting or gluing, just folding. We are the only specialised shop in Spain and in May 2024 we will celebrate 15 years of activity.

What is the history of your commerce?

I am an architect. In love with the creation of spaces and geometry, shapes, colour, proportions, symmetry... and I found in origami a hobby that fully satisfied my concerns. At a given moment and coinciding with the construction crisis that started in 2007 and affected us architects so much, I decided to turn my hobby into my way of life. I first had a great love affair with origami in 1992, when I visited the Japanese pavilion at the Seville Expo and discovered all the possibilities when I visited the interior of the pavilion, whose theme was dedicated to origami. I still have unused, as a souvenir, the first pack of square papers that I bought there and had never seen before.

What is your professional experience?

As I said before, I am an architect and I was working in this professional field for 15 years until I decided to open my own business.
I was already self-employed as an architect, so bureaucratically and fiscally it was not complicated for me to take the step.

How has covid 19 affected your business?

I had to close, although I later received aid from the government and the Community of Madrid.
