Interview to the commerce

When you think about your business, what are you most proud of?

We select the books with great care, thinking of the readers, we like to advise and suggest readings as well as create activities and encounters related to books that make the visit to the bookshop an experience to remember beyond buying books.

Interview to the commerce

What is the history of your commerce?

Liberespacio opened in September 2010, a personal dream of the bookseller and owner Zaida Pérez, finally brought to reality with the aim of creating family reading experiences. We like to transmit that reading is also playing and is part of everyday fun, while we learn and develop as more open and creative people.
Reading as a family unites and helps speech development and early learning.
We like to choose the books and other products we offer in the bookshop, its like going on a treasure hunt.
We love what we do, selecting and recommending readings with alternative experiences to pass on our passion.

What is your professional experience?

Before opening the bookshop, I was an executive in an international bank for 17 years, a very enriching period where I travelled a lot and carried out different projects in different business areas.
Life is a journey, in which we learn, we keep experiences in our suitcases and we make stopovers between destinations as we grow.
I became self-employed to undertake a dream on my own, it is difficult to find fellow travellers to jump into the void.
For more than 10 years as an entrepreneur I have developed the bookshop business, and I have been trained in this fantastic world of books, and in many other facets, as the owners of small businesses are more than people, and we have to know how to do almost everything.

How has covid 19 affected your business?

COVID 19 has affected and continues to affect, consumer habits have changed and digitalisation has grown. We have invested in developments in the website, in marketing and communication actions in social networks that are now essential to transmit that we are still alive!
And we have generated a close relationship with customers, dealing with customers has become closer, we offer advice with video calls.
The positive side is that I have felt very supported by messages of affection and encouragement and above all satisfied to see how the efforts made have been translated into support from customers, who have remained loyal and grateful for our work and have chosen to buy from the bookshop.

What services and products does your business provide?

We sell books for all ages, although our speciality is childrens and young peoples books, we also have gifts for babies and some games.
We make selections for libraries and collaborating publications.
We have an event space for book presentations, meetings with authors, creative workshops and illustration exhibitions.
At the moment COVIDs activities are more virtual than in person, but we hope to be able to offer the room in the near future.
