Interview to the commerce

When you think about your business, what are you most proud of?

The Centro de Arte Moderno is a private institution open to all cultural manifestations. Writers, artists, musicians and actors have passed through its halls, giving lectures, book presentations, recitals, plays and exhibitions open to the public free of charge.
It also has the Museo del Escritor, which is a collection of what we call "affective objects" of Spanish language writers. At the moment there are more than two hundred objects in the permanent exhibition that belonged to authors from twenty-one countries, the collection is much more extensive and the funds are used to put together thematic exhibitions in different rooms.
On the other hand, we have the Centres Bookshop, which specialises in Latin American authors.
There is also an exhibition room where temporary exhibitions of contemporary artists are held.

What is the history of your commerce?

The Centro de Arte Moderno was founded in the city of Quilmes, Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1995, and moved its headquarters to Madrid in 2002.
In 2010 it opened the Museo del Escritor, at the CAM headquarters.
In the 25 years that we have been working our institution has been a meeting point for all the makers of all artistic disciplines, always open to proposals and new trends.

How has covid 19 affected your business?

Covid has been a big problem, for more than a year and a half we have not been able to do face-to-face activities, which has limited our work.

What services and products does your business provide?

In the Centres Bookshop you can find books by Latin American authors, many of them very difficult to find in Spain because they are not published here, or some of our special editions, handmade and signed and numbered by their authors. You can also find our bibliographic offer in todostuslibros or on our website. You can also visit the Museo del Escritor (Writers Museum), whether you ask for a guided tour or not, and then take home a souvenir of your favourite writer. On the other hand, you can visit the temporary exhibition, which opens up a world of contemporary artists. The works exhibited are, of course, for sale, as well as original graphic works that we have in our portfolio.
