Interview to the commerce

When you think about your business, what are you most proud of?

We are proud to have quite democratised bespoke tailoring. We make personalised industrial tailoring. We like dealing directly with the customer, listening to them and advising them in order to offer them what best suits their needs.
Our cutting system is manual for each customer, although it is an industrial process, so we can alter practically all the pieces of the garment. At PUGIL we have our own workshop where we make all the necessary adjustments and do the final ironing to deliver the garment in perfect condition.
All this is what we call high quality industrial tailoring and we want to teach our customers how to differentiate it from the rest. We are not an artisan tailors shop, we work with industrial tailoring and this is also reflected in our prices.
As a star garment we have reversible waistcoats, created by us, which are very versatile and which differentiate us from the rest.

What is the history of your commerce?

We started in 2014, two partners, Nacho and Martín, who left their jobs to make a dream come true. With the support of investment partners, PUGIL took shape. All of us who started PUGIL had a relationship with the world of fashion and tailoring, but our jobs were too small for us. We wanted something more. With a clear idea and a lot of enthusiasm, we started a project that is moving forward and adapting to the times we live in.

What is your professional experience?

The PUGIL team has extensive experience in the fashion and tailoring sector. We have more than 15 years of previous experience working for other brands and companies.
We wanted more freedom when it came to structuring our work, choosing our collections, creating our garments.... we had a very clear concept that we wanted, and we took the step to go further and develop it.

How has covid 19 affected your business?

As far as possible, we have stayed "alive". We closed down completely during the first confinement, for obvious reasons. And since May last year we have been working "at half speed". Half of the workforce is on ERTE as we cannot afford to reinstate them all. COVID has affected us as it has affected the whole fashion sector.
A very important part of our business is weddings. Grooms suits, and that sector has come to a complete standstill. Now it is starting to pick up again, people are going back to the weddings they postponed and they are thinking about celebrating again. We hope that this will continue to grow, and that we will soon be back to our normal activity.

What services and products does your business provide?

Our business has three main lines:
Bespoke tailoring, the sale of collection clothes, and ceremony, which would be a section within tailoring.
We personally select the brands and products from other firms that we want to sell. We are not just another multi-brand shop, it is true that we sell brands, but we always select them with great care and in accordance with our spirit as a shop.
Regarding tailoring, we like to work always listening to our customers, and trying to help them to personalise their garments as much as possible.

What other NGOs do you collaborate with?
