Interview to the commerce

When you think about your business, what are you most proud of?

Well, we are proud to continue making gloves after almost 125 years and to make them with the same care and affection as we did then and, above all, to maintain, with a lot of effort, a trade of which there are hardly any working professionals left.
We are also proud to defend that small commerce is possible, is close, is more personal and generates life in the neighbourhoods.

What is the history of your commerce?

The origin of our company dates back to 1896 when the first factory was opened in the Barrio de las Letras district of Madrid. At that time the name was different, Guantes Zurro.
Pulling the thread of the history of our gloves, we can tell that the manager of the Guantes Zurro factory married the owners daughter to continue the tradition of making this garment. Guantes Mario Herrero was the name given by the new owner and this is how his advertisement sounded on the radio at the time: "Mario Herrero, the best glove maker in the whole world".
His fame grew for decades and he became the glove maker of reference at the time.
In 2000 the company was renamed Santacana.
