LIBRERIA DESNIVEL
Interview to the commerce

When you think about your business, what are you most proud of?

The Librería Desnivel aims to be more than just a bookshop: it is a cultural meeting point where you can share your passion for the mountains and the great outdoors. An important part of the bookshops income is dedicated to promoting the agenda of screenings and conferences that are held there throughout the year.

The beauty of this centenary venue has meant that it has been chosen on numerous occasions for films, photo shoots for important magazines and advertising campaigns.

What is the history of your commerce?

Our bookshop has been a "bookshop" since 1898 (the building was built in 1887) and has preserved an important part of the original furniture (bookshelves, floor of the first room, office...). The back part of the Bookshop (nowadays the projection area) and the corridor leading to it was the paper warehouse of the "Fabrica La Paquita". This is where the small printers from the surrounding area came to buy paper for their work. In one of the corridors you can still see the century-old guillotine with which the paper was cut.

How has covid 19 affected your business?

We have had to close completely to the public but we have been able to continue with online sales which is what has saved us all this time and so we have been able to stay alive, albeit with fewer staff. We hope to be able to open full time as soon as everything is back to normal and customers come back.
